02/28/06 Road Trip: The Drive (Day 1)

Well, as promised, this is my follow-up to my previous post.

Long story short; we went after work, got tired, took a nap, drove the rest of the way, got our hotel rooms, ordered pizza, slept, met up with my friend, went to Indianapolis, came back, slept some more, left in the morning, got fireworks, and then came home.

For more information that isn't as easily communicated (details and whatnot), keep reading. Read More

02/26/06 Grizzly Man

The Discovery Channel has been playing the hell out of the movie Grizzly Man. In case you don't know it's about the experiences of Timothy Treadwell, a recovering addict and alcoholic who basically went to Alaska to live among and protect the grizzly bears. Treadwell and and his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, were killed by a grizzly and 2003.

The man had noble goals but seriously, what did he expect? I don't see what the big deal is. The guy lived for years by almost literally "poking the bear". This guy frequently danced the fine line between bravery and stupidity.

02/26/06 Brokeback Boycott

I refuse to see Brokeback Mountain.

It has nothing to do with it being a movie about gay cowboys, with or with out pudding.

It's just that it has officially become one of those movies that everyone talks about so much that I officially have no desire to see it ever.

Add it to the list with Titanic and Passion of the Christ.

02/23/06 See ya!

So, I'm sorry I haven't been the most regular poster here, but the only interesting things that happen to me are silly conversations at work. They would take too long to talk about, seeing as there are many many backstories to explain. Well, I've got something else to rant about today! (yay)

Basically, long story short, I'm leaving for a weekend of unadulterated, unsupervised insanity tomorrow night. Let me explain.

I have a friend of about four or five years that's currently going to college in Indiana. Well, one day while bored out of our minds at work, me and my friend, Jeff, somehow decided that we should go see her. Well, we were just joking, but it somehow evolved into serious plans, and now here we are. Getting prepared to leave after work tomorrow.

No idea what we're gonna do. No idea where we're gonna stay. Sounds like a good time to me!

So basically, just giving you a heads-up that I'll probably have stories to tell on Monday, and if I can remember them/if I can legally tell you what happened, I'll definitely be sure to write about that. :-P

Wish me luck, and I'll catch you guys later. Off to Indy I go. 8-)

02/20/06 Woman's Arm Severed In Car Accident

A Letcher County woman suffered a horrible injury early Thursday when her arm was severed in a car crash on the Mountain Parkway in Clark County.

Jacqueline Dotson and her six-year-old daughter had to be cut out of their vehicle after the accident in which Dotson veered into the median and over-corrected, rolling her truck over the guardrail and landing upside down after flipping several times.

Several people stopped to help, and it turns out, the good samaritans may very well have saved Dotson's life. Sheila Vice, a nurse's aide, and an off-duty EMT from another county stopped to help, and put a tourniquet on Dotson's arm to stop the bleeding. Her arm was found near the accident still clutching a cell phone.
